The second Pangolin User Meeting for 2006 was held
October 11-12, 2006, within the
Discotheque
Hemkade48 in Zaandam close to downtown Amsterdam. This was a
tremendous meeting, with over 70 people in attendance! The meeting
was spread over two days, with the content of the first day was
similar to Pangolin User Meetings of the past, and the content of
the second day was almost exclusively dedicated to LivePRO. Special
thanks goes to Hugo Bunk of Laser
Image who organized the meeting as well as supplying all
equipment. (Pictures of the meeting can be found
here.)
The general format
of the first day was as follows:
-
Introduction to Pangolin staff, as well as
Hugo Bunk and Glenn Turner who served as support personnel
-
General discussion of the LD2000 system, as
well as add-on programs such as Lasershow Converter MAX and FLASH
-
Lunch
-
Presentation of
Watchout video software by
Adela Kriland
-
Pangolin Prize competition
-
T-shirt give-away
-
Dinner
-
Pangolin-style "LASE-OFF"
During this portion of the meeting, Pangolins
president William Benner introduced Pangolin Laser Systems and
staff
member Hayden Hale, as well as Hugo Bunk and Glenn Turner.

Discussion of
the LD2000 system as well as plug-ins and add-ons
Since there were many new users at the Pangolin
User Meeting, time was spent explaining the LD2000 system as a
whole, including LD2000, Showtime, Autoplay, Live! and also the
various plug-ins and add-on programs available such as Lasershow
Converter MAX, Lasershow Converter FLASH and other new software.
Note that Hugo organized the equipment at the meeting such that
almost all attendees were provided a computer with which to follow
along and try things out for themselves.

Watchout presentation
After a tasty lunch, Adela Kriland took time to
demonstrate the Watchout video software made by Dataton. This
software allows easy control over a number of video projectors which
may be edge-blended to create seemless large-scale presentations.
The Watchout software may be used along with Pangolin's Showtime to
create fantastic laser-over-video presentations.
This year, we had 21 entries for the Pangolin
Prize competition. This is on par with the number that we received
over the past several years. All entries were EXCELLENT and almost
all graphic entries were created with
Lasershow Converter MAX or
Lasershow Converter
FLASH. To see the
results of the 2006 Pangolin Prize competition,

T-shirt give-away
Pangolin continued its tradition of providing
free T-shirts to commemorate the meeting.
The second day was dedicated to LivePRO
education. It was taught by Master Laserist Glenn Turner.

Note that Pangolin staff captured video from
three different video cameras and will be creating a special LivePRO
tutorial DVD from the session. Stay tuned for more information about
this.
