QM2000 + NETWORK = QM2000.NET

Since late 1999, the QM2000 board has been the hardware portion of Pangolin's LD2000 series of software. Although it was designed in 1999 with cooperation of Motorola, it was designed to have a very long usable lifetime, with built-in expansion capabilities and support for scan rates greater than four times the 30K state-of- the-art at the time.
Indeed, the capability and expandability of the QM2000 was recognized by ILDA, in the form of a First Place Fenning Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in the year 2000.
Pangolin continues to add value to the QM2000 with free automatic firmware updates, as well as hardware add-ons such as the Lasershow Player model CD2000. And now, our latest hardware add-on is a Network Adapter Board which can be connected directly to the QM2000.

Just plug in the computer and go

The QM2000.NET provides for very simple and truly plug-and-play operation. Just position the QM2000.NET system close to (or installed within) your laser projector, connect it to a computer via Ethernet cable, and use any software within the LD2000 suite. If you want to expand the number of projectors controlled, or create large scale shows using numerous laser projectors, this is no problem with the QM2000.NET, since you only need to connect them together with standard 10/100 Ethernet cables.

19-inch Rack Mount

Click to see a picture of the inside, viewed from the rearPangolin's QM2000.NET hardware platform is the combination of a QM2000 board with Pangolin's Network Adapter Board. Normally, this is sold as a 19-inch rack mount enclosure which includes a power supply, Network Adapter Board and associated wiring.
This is a very good hardware configuration for fixed installations such as amusement parks and cruise ships where rack-mounted equipment is commonplace.

Laptop-friendly

For portability, Pangolin also offers a much smaller, lightweight unit, which is more convenient to carry around and use with a laptop computer. This sturdy laptop-friendly box includes the power supply and the Network Adapter Board. This box can be connected to your local network or directly to your computer. The size of this small box is 7.5 x 7.5 x 1.5 inches (19 x 19 x 3.8 cm).

Also available as an OEM product

Although many clients will want to purchase one of the complete hardware-in-a-box solutions described above, dealers and manufacturers may prefer to purchase the Network Adapter Board separately, as an OEM product, so that they can embed a QM2000.NET directly into a laser projector.
In fact, this is already being done right now. One example is the company Laser Image BV in The Netherlands. Laser Image embeds the QM2000.NET system directly into a very tiny laser projector that they use on their large-scale shows. One example of a large-scale show is the Awakenings Rave 2006 in The Netherlands, where 13 separate projectors were used, spread out over a relatively large area.

Get wired, or go wireless

QM2000.NET is typically deployed in a wired configuration, with 10/100 Ethernet cable connecting the master laser computer to remote projectorss. However, you can also use standard wireless Ethernet devices. Since these merely encode and transmit Ethernet signals, they work great in situations where projectors are very widely scattered.

Pricing and more information

The QM2000.NET is available now, in the 19-inch or laptop-friendly enclosure, as well as in the board-level form.

  • The US List price for the 19-inch rack mount QM2000.NET enclosure is $795.

  • The US List price for the laptop-friendly QM2000.NET enclosure is $695.

  • The board-level QM2000.NET adapter is only available to dealers and OEMs. Contact Pangolin for more information about this.

Note that these prices do not include the QM2000 board itself, which has an additional cost if you don't already have an LD2000 system. For example, if you want to purchase an LD2000 Intro system with QM2000.NET, the US-Suggested retail price for the combination is $1495 + $795 = $2190.
If you already have a QM2000 board whose serial number is above 7400, and you would like to purchase only the QM2000.NET, this is possible, and the prices shown above apply with no additional costs (except shipping).
If your QM2000 is below serial number 7400 it will not work in the QM2000.NET without modification. The modification is time-consuming and expensive, and not always successful. Therefore if your QM2000 is below serial number 7400, we recommend you continue using it in the PCI slot of a desktop computer or docking station. Alternatively you can trade in the older board for a brand new QM2000 board. The trade-in cost is $800.
